Do you come to me on my wedding day?

Yes! I offer on-location hair and makeup services to your getting-ready location (some locations not available). There is a minimum $20 travel fee. Please inquire for travel rates and radius.

How far in advance should I book?

Our peak bridal season is between May-October. The Flathead Valley is a popular wedding and elopement location for local and destination brides and dates can book up a year in advance. While weekends book up the quickest, weekdays are popular for elopements. As soon as you have a date set, please check my availability. I recommend securing your date as soon as possible.

How do I secure my date?

To reserve your date, I require a 50% non-refundable retainer of all wedding day services and costs. This, along with a signed contract, secures your date with me. I book on a first come, first serve basis and inquiries are not a guarantee of reservation.

When do you need to know the 'getting-ready' location, timeline and the total number of people wanting services?

I need to know the total number of people for hair and makeup services, location and timeline at the time you book with me with a signed contract. The length of time I reserve for you and the cost of travel is based off of this figure.

I have already booked my services with a retainer and contract. Can I remove services? Can I add services?

We are always happy to add on additional services after initial contract signing as long as we have availability to do so, but that is not always possible. We can only guarantee services that are included on the initial contract. All details must be finalized 30 days prior to your contracted event date. Services may not be cancelled with a refund. A service can be transferred to another person in your bridal party before the 30 days.

Can I book just myself for services or do you have a minimum requirement of services or ladies?

I work with small wedding parties only and require a minimum purchse requirement of $320 of wedding day hair and/or makeup services up to 4 services total. The minimum purchase requirement does not include trial runs, travel fees, parking fees or tolls. Furthermore, I will do as little as 2 services and can accommodate up to 4 services in a wedding party, depending on the timeline allowance. It is best to keep your getting-ready timeline to less than 5 hours.

What do you mean by 'services'?

Great question! One service is one application, hair or makeup. If you are looking for hair and makeup, that is two services. One person can receive up to 2 services. If there are 2 people looking for both hair and makeup services, that will be 4 services. If there are 4 people looking for hair OR makeup (1 service for each person), that would be 4 services

What if I need more than 4 services?

Since I accommodate between 2-4 services, brides have hired me for the maximum amount of services (4 services max) that can be completed in her timeline for either her bridal party only or for herself, Maid/Matron of Honor, and Mother of the Bride. If there are more members of her party that would like hair and/or makeup services than what the timeline will allow, we encourage hiring an additional outside stylist to accommodate the rest! A recommendation of stylists can be given upon request.

Are you willing to work on-site with an outside stylist for larger bridal parties?

Yes! I do not have an Exclusivity Clause and am happy to work alongside another stylist. It is highly recommended to hire a stylist who specializes in one area of focus (all hair or all makeup) and I can accommodate the opposite service.

I am wanting to do sunrise photos, can you start early?

Sunrise photos make for beautiful memories! For any services that start before 6AM, there is an Early Start Fee of $75 for every half hour prior to 6AM.

bookings

trial runs

When should I book my trial run?

I highly recommend scheduling your trail run 1-3 months before your wedding day. For destination brides, I am flexible in scheduling your trial run based on your travel schedule, even if that means you can only schedule it 6 months out. Styles and trends can change in 6 months and the style of your dress are important when choosing your desired hair and makeup style. Please keep that in mind if you have not chosen your perfect dress or preferred hair/makeup style 3 months before your wedding. Trial runs are scheduled during the week, Monday-Thursday between 9AM-3PM, during peak wedding season.

Where do you conduct your trial runs?

Trial runs can be conducted inside An Salon in Whitefish or at your location. For locations outside of the salon, travel fees apply for trial runs. These locations will be assessed with the same wedding day travel costs.

I'm not sure I want a trial run, do I need one?

I highly recommend a trial run although do not require one. If you are unsure about what look you are going for or are torn between a couple different styles, this is an important opportunity for you to try it on so you can see what feels most comfortable and beautiful to you!

If you decide you would like to book a trial, these are paid in addition to the wedding-day services and are paid at the time of the consultation appointment.

How long does a trial run take?

Trial runs can take up to 1.5-3.5 hours depending on the amount of services. This is the time to discuss any inspirational pictures that you love (or even do not love!), placement of veil and/or hair accessories (if applicable) and the opportunity to make any adjustments. We will take photos of the final look to keep as a reference to use on your wedding day

Can I wait to book my wedding date until I have a trial run first?

Yes! I want you to be completely comfortable when booking with me! Please keep in mind that a scheduled trial run does not hold your wedding date. Any inquiries for the same date that we receive in the meantime will be given the same opportunity to book.

I'm not sure what makeup look I would like on my special day. Can you help?

Of course! I always work with each client to ensure they look their best. During your trial run, I will ask a variety of questions to get as much insight on your wants and needs to determine what makes you feel the most comfortable. If you are unsure about makeup, we will use pictures as guides to decide a look we like AND do not like so we can customize a look that enhances your best features and plays down the areas you may feel less comfortable with. I want you to be able to still see yourself and feel like yourself when we finish. If you are interested in a complete transformation, we can discuss and do that, too!

Can I send you photos of inspirational looks?

Yes! I highly recommend pictures as they are a great jumping off point for conceptualizing your vision without having to find the "right" verbiage for explaining your styling desires. You can visit Ty Nykole's Instagram page or Facebook page, as well as check out this Pinterest board to see various hair and makeup looks from various stylists. Feel free to email a couple of hair styles and/or makeup looks that you love. I will keep these on file to discuss at your trial run.

hair and makeup application

How long does it take to do a makeup application and hair style?

Depending on the desired hair style, desired makeup style, hair density, length, texture, it could take up to 45 minutes to 1 hour per service (hair OR makeup) for a party member and 1-1.5 hours per service for the bride. For a more intricate style, one service can take up to 2-2.5 hours.

What types of product do you use?

I use professional quality products such as MAC, Urban Decay, Graftobian, RCMA, and Makeup Forever and more. I use a wide range of formulas suited to everyone's skin type and texture.

How long will the makeup last, and what if I sweat or cry?

All of the makeup I use is water-resistant and long-lasting. It will hold up through humid weather, crying, and sweating. It does not prevent oil secretion, so for those who tend to produce excess oil may find it necessary to use blot paper to absorb any additional oil throughout the day. Any oil from foods, such as dressings, may breakdown even long-wearing lipsticks so additional touch-ups could be necessary. With any time of makeup, if water or tears happen, it is always best to dab...never wipe!

Do you have experience with acne, mature or sensitive skin?

Yes! I have a full range of professional skin care products that I use to prepare the skin for makeup application to achieve the very best results. For acneic skin, redness can be concealed, however, texture cannot be completely concealed. I will hydrate the area to reduce dryness and use the proper products and techniques to reduce the visibility.

Can I just have you apply eye makeup only?

I provide full service applications only instead of partial services such as foundation application only or eyes only. This allows your entire makeup to be complete and cohesive with the overall look that you envisioned for your special day. By providing full makeup services, this ensures that you and your bridal party's makeup looks its best!

Do you offer airbrush makeup?

I no longer offer airbrush services at this time. Traditional foundation techonolgies have come a long way over the years and many brides prefer this method so I now offer only traditional foundation makeup application services.
